Rylen Hester, 16x

“Our son Rylen started working with Tory after his 13x Grands in 2022. Rylen has a unique story in that he didn’t learn how to ride a bike until he was 10 years old and started racing shortly after, so he didn’t have the experience of the other riders in his class. He attended a few bmx camps but we really felt he needed more consistent and personalized coaching and that’s exactly what Tory provided him.

Over the last 3 years, Tory has helped Rylen set, work toward and achieve goals ranging from getting podiums at Nationals, earning Gold Cup, NAG and National plates, to making mains at ROC and GRANDS. His dedication and genuine desire to better Rylen, not only as a rider but also as a person, has been a valuable asset to our family.

We don’t know where this sport will take Rylen or when the ride will end, but we know he is better with Tory in his corner.”

Eli Staton, 15x

(Eli’s Mom): “My son, Eli Staton, worked with Tory Nyhaug for about two years during a pivotal point in his development. We came to Tory when Eli was struggling - not just with results on the track, but with the mental weight that comes when success no longer comes easily. Tory met him with personalized, detailed training plans for both gym and track work - but what really sets him apart is how deeply he invests in his riders as people.

Tory helped Eli build consistency and a goal-driven mindset, backed by frequent communication and genuine care. He was present for races whenever possible, watched motos via live feeds and video, and gave real-time feedback that made it feel like we had a coach at every single practice, workout, and gate drop. That kind of support - on and off the bike - is rare.

He’s not just a phenomenal coach; he’s a phenomenal human. We feel incredibly lucky to have had Tory in Eli’s corner - and even luckier to now call him a friend.”

Jack Tiller, 9 Boys

(Jack’s Mom) “We were looking for a coach to help our son with rehabilitation from an injury during summer break. We live in a country area in Australia, three hours from city tracks and coaching opportunities. Jack was recovering from a broken wrist from a National BMX round.

From our first discussions with Tory, we knew he was the right coach due to the instant connection he formed with Jack. As parents, Tory’s expertise, experience, personal achievements, and availability—even across time zones—stood out to us.

From Jack’s perspective, Tory genuinely cares and builds long-term relationships with his riders. That trust motivated Jack to train harder and reach the targets they set together. Tory involved Jack in creating his training program and supported him with calls, video reviews, and fast feedback. Jack always says, “it feels like Tory is right here.”

Beyond the training program, the mental support Tory provided to help Jack overcome fear after his crash was huge. Programs exist online, but it’s rare to find a coach who can build mental toughness with kindness, patience, and belief the way Tory does.

Our son overcame his fears, built fitness and skills, and smashed his goals—becoming State Champion this year!”

Landon Donnelly, 14x

(Landon’s Parents) “We reached out to Tory during our son’s Worlds prep last summer. During the very first phone call, we knew we had found the perfect match. Tory is kind, insightful, patient, knowledgeable, positive, and available to answer questions anytime. When we have had scheduling conflicts with the track footage review, he has been flexible and changed his schedule to accommodate us. The weekly training program has been targeted at Landon’s personal needs. As a result, over the last eight months we have watched our son develop into a completely different rider. Tory has been an invaluable resource in focusing on long term progression and skill development. Landon’s gates, first straights, corners, race lines, and awareness have improved exponentially. In return, this has given him more confidence in his ability and helped him with the mental aspects of racing. Tory has been there to cheer on every success and has provided guidance and reassurance during tough outcomes. We are blessed to call him coach, mentor, and most importantly, friend.”

Austin Cornbill, 17-20x / Junior Men

“I would not be where I am without Tory’s coaching. I have worked with Tory for just over a year and half and my racing has changed drastically. I trusted his process and it has paid off.

Tory gives me feedback and advice on both my riding and mental and physical prep before races. He works around my schedule and adjusts my training weekly as things change.

I, 110% recommend Tory Nyhaug for training/coaching.”

Mackenna, 10 girls

“We met Tory at Houston 2 years ago. A little while later, my dad asked me if I wanted a coach. I was super excited. My first meeting with Tory I was so nervous, but he was super nice and relaxed. I set goals for the year like getting on the podium at one national. By the end of the year, I had gotten 6 podiums. Tory has helped me mentally and physically. Thank you so much!” -Mackenna

John (Mackenna’s Dad): "Tory started coaching Mackenna 2 years ago, and I've consistently been impressed by his professionalism and knowledge. His expertise goes beyond skill development and race strategy. His off-track training programs and detail in developing the mental aspects of racing are on point and are catered specifically her. His ability to connect with her on a personal level has made a significant impact. He collaborates with Mackenna, breaking down her races with her and guiding her own conclusions on areas for improvement. His personalized approach and genuine passion for the sport make him an exceptional coach.

Lucas Zhou, 16x

“Lucas started training with Tory 2 years ago and it has been nothing but successful. Tory is very knowledgeable and very patient with his riders. He was able to work with Lucas not only on the riding side of it but also on the mental side. He reviewed videos together with Lucas, and most importantly he comes to Nationals that Lucas races to pump him up. ”- Lucas’ Dad, Joe

Brady Mitschke, 14x

(Brady’s Parents) “Brady has been working with Tory for several years. Over the years Brady has had several large races he needed to prep for such as the World Championships, USABMX Grand Nationals and Canadian National Championships. Tory’s training program for Brady was specific to what he needed to work on, what he needed to improve, as well as what he wanted to learn. Brady started trying new things and stepping out of his comfort zone. Even when Brady was out for a broken collarbone, Tory and him still worked together doing light training as well as working on his mental approach to racing. The improvement in Brady has been remarkable resulting in him making the 2023 Worlds main at his first ever World Championships!

Tory is understanding, caring, and knowledgeable when it comes to coaching riders. We are lucky to have him not only as a coach and mentor, but as a person we consider family! Thanks for all you do Tory!”

Liam Sanders, 15x

(Liam’s Dad): “Liam has been working with Tory for over a year and a half. We started with Tory when Liam was coming back from an injury, so having a knowledgelable coach to guide him through his recovery and get him back up to speed was crucial. Tory has always been so helpful and his programs are very detailed. He works with Liam to identify his strengths and weaknesses, and then tailors the training to best suit what is needed at any given time. Tory is also very quick to respond to our requests for advice. We've found that not only is he an excellent coach, but an outstanding human being. His constructive criticism about areas that need improvement while being eager to listen and encourage has been huge for us. Liam is very driven in all aspects of his life and racing is no exception. Having Tory to guide him through the ups and downs helps keep Liam focused on the task at hand and the long-term goal of continuously improving.“

Christian Fisher, 14x

“When Christian started training with Tory, not only did we notice immediate improvements in his skills, but so did others around him. The Structure of Tory’s Program gave Christian confidence, kept him motivated, and focused on a daily basis. His training style pushed him to think about his riding and explore different ways to improve. His continuous support is amazing and makes a huge difference for someone in such a hard age group. Tory has been a blessing to Christian and continues to motivate him. He makes Christian feel better about himself and we can’t thank Tory enough for that.” -Jillian Fisher, Christian’s Mom

Seaton Spratt,

40-44x

“Tory started coaching me around 6 months ago, I had already been in a gym for a while and doing my weekly sprints. It came to the point where I was questioning if I was doing the right things at the right time and if my gym programming was specific enough for our sport. That’s when Tory and I started working together, with a fully personalised monthly program and schedule set out in advance I know what I’m doing on upcoming days and I can be sure I’m doing the right amount of training leading into a race, all the guesswork is now gone and I can concentrate on doing my training.

Tory is really easy to talk to on our weekly check ins and it’s obvious to me that he is passionate about helping me be the best that I can. Giving me the best chance at achieving my goals. Having someone like Tory as a coach, who has been at the highest level racing bmx and has the knowledge in all areas that go into being a better racer, has definitely helped me see the improvements both on and off the track that I have been looking for. Thanks Tory!”

Karson White, 9x

(Karson’s father) “Karson met Tory as a 5 Intermediate at The Grands in 2021 and immediately took to him. The transition to expert was a little tough on him at first. We decided to try something out of the box and reached out to Tory to see if he could get on a 5 year olds level and help him navigate this transition while keeping it fun. He more than delivered. We saw a complete 180 on his attitude and overall demeanor at the big races after our coaching call. Karson is now having fun regardless if he’s in first or last. Now we know that if Karson get’s in a little slump it’s just a quick phone call with Tory to get his mind right and pointed back in the right direction. Not only did he gain a coach, he also gained a friend”
